Linking ticket to Speaker....

If I would like to charge speakers to speak at my event, it would be nice to be able to create a type of “Speaker Ticket” and once paid, have them show up as a Speaker in my event - possibly with the option to have them fill out a customizable form to ask them the relevant details e.g short title, upload headshot, etc. This is for those cases where we don’t want to give them access to the Speaker’s Dashboard. Once this Speaker ticket is paid and short form filled, they could be in a sort of “pending” or “inactive” mode until I APPROVE them to appear on the Speaker’s page. I believe this will extend the functionality of HeySummit and open up more possibilities (and definitely help eliminate the stress of having to collect payment separately!)

Thanks for suggesting this. We’ve shipped paid talk submissions now, so organisers can charge a submission fee, collect the speaker and talk details, and review each paid submission before approving it. My use case is wholly different, however linking a ticket to a speaker @ben could solve my issue for wanting premium members to be listed in a directory. Especially if when a registrant is ticking the don’t list me in the directory it was still respected.

Hey Andrew, thanks for the reply to this. You can already link tickets to speakers. Is that in and of itself sufficient, or are you looking for more here?

Thanks for the quick response! It was more of a hack or workaround for the directory issue. So rather than linking tickets to speakers I was looking to link speakers to tickets. You're right that basic ticket-to-speaker linking exists, but I was looking for something more comprehensive for the directory use case (whereby i would make every paid/full member a speaker and thereby giving them a profile page). What we would need is: - When someone purchases a "XXXX" ticket, they're automatically added as a speaker - Respect for privacy settings - if someone opts out of directory listing during registration, they should not be added as a speaker The current ticket-to-speaker linking is really useful and I can see I will use it regularly. This features would make a potential workaround for a member directory. However if it is as complex as rolling out an actual member/delegate directory it is likely not worth the effort. Except in the case of their being more interest for Shade’s use case, which is quite different and a different way to monetise an event than the way we do it. But there is never a right way if it works for them, then it is right. This would essentially let us use the speaker profile system as a member directory without building separate directory functionality.

Gotcha, that's super interesting. But yeah, I think ultimately you've hit the nail on the head that this feels like a bit of an unnecessary hack, and ultimately is almost just as much work as building out the actual attendee directory functionality in the first place. So I'd suggest we focus on the attendee directory before trying to tackle something like this.

I think we agree, and are completely aligned. It would make most sense to build out the directory properly in time. Its a nice ‘semi major’ upgrade when launched to the existing members down the track. Thanks Ben
