Granular Controls for Display of Chat: Disable Live Chat on Replays

Current Behaviour: Enabling or disabling live chat currently applies event-wide. If live chat is disabled globally, it cannot be selectively enabled for specific stages or sessions. Conversely, if enabled, it also appears on on-demand replays where comments would be more appropriate. On our replays we have live chat appear next to video, as well as comments below the video. Not sure if this is a bug, or intentional. I am fairly confident this was not the case before. If it is not a bug then the issue is highlighted below: Problem: - The “Disable Interactive Features” option is only available per session, or as a global setting with no way to override for a single stage or session. - Live chat appears embedded in replays/on-demand sessions, where it feels out of place, especially since comments/feedback are automatically enabled for each replay/view-on-demand. - Addressing this currently requires adjusting 300+ sessions manually via advanced settings, which is highly inefficient. Proposed Solution: Add granular controls for interactive features, allowing: - A live chat option that can be toggled by stage or session, overriding the global setting if interactive features are set to OFF. - Comments to remain available for on-demand/replay sessions. I’m also open to other workarounds, including a bulk edit option to simplify management across large events.

Hi Andrew, I'm pleased to say that this has now been actioned. The second item in the list (marking chat as read-only in a replay scenario), was rolled out a few days ago. In regards to the first point, giving you greater control over toggling chat on or off at the talk level, this has just been released earlier today. Please see the changelog below for that particular feature. https://heysummit.userjot.com/updates/p/greater-control-with…

Hey Andrew, thanks so much for writing this up. Just wanna make sure I'm understanding correctly. Are you essentially saying that there are two issues that need to be addressed here? 1) Whilst you can turn chat OFF on a per-session basis, it is not possible to turn it ON on a per-session basis (in the scenario where chat has been turned off at the global event level). I.e. if chat is off at the event level, you want to be able to optionally turn it on at the talk level? 2) Replays are showing the chat in write mode when they should be shown in read-only mode only? Is my understanding above correct? If not, please do let me know, and we'll aim to get these rolled out ASAP.

Thanks Ben 1) Yes, indeed this is the main issue. If i turn off the chat event wide (to resolve issue two and have it hidden automatically for 300 replays) then I am unable to enable interactive features for a specific stage or session. 2) indeed live chat is showing for view on demand replays (the videos actually never played live to an audience, so there is no chat history, maybe that may be the reason it shows as possible to engage in live chat for our replays and not others)

Great, thanks for clarifying Andrew. We'll look into it and see if there's something we can roll out in the coming days.

Appreciated, we can do it manually if necessary (switch each of the previously uploaded videos to no live chat, individually, but it will be a huge time drain). The event is still a couple of weeks away so still time to get it resolved either way.

No problem - we should be able to roll it out before the end of the week. I’ll update you here once done.
