Create "folders" for agenda items

I don’t know if this makes sense, but I would like to throw it in here and hear your feedback. When we create talks on different dates in an ongoing event, we usually also add other agenda items for this day. And sometimes multiple talks. When we currently create separate landing pages for the activities on a certain date, it is quite a struggle to get the agenda showing the relevant data for that day. We don’t need data of previous talks and also not of any talks on future dates. If all the agenda data for a certain date would be organized in a “folder”, then we could select that folder to display on the custom landing page and the correct agenda items would show. What do you think?

Hi Henk, A quick update: the newer Workspaces capability now covers the main public-facing organisation part of this request. You can create separate events inside one Workspace and publish a Workspace page that lists selected current, upcoming, and past events, with each one linking to its own event page. From the Workspace dashboard, open Public Page Settings to configure and publish it. This does not add folders inside a single ongoing event, but it provides the cleaner event hierarchy we mentioned previously, so we are closing this request in favour of that approach. I hope this gives you a much better way to structure your membership events.

Hey Henk, Thanks for sharing the feature suggestion. Are you essentially talking about agenda templates so that you can apply a collection of agenda items to a specific day, for example, rather than having to add them individually? Is that broadly what you're trying to achieve here?

That’s actually a good idea as well, but not what I had in mind. We use the Ongoing Event type to create an ongoing membership. We organize multiple Events over the year. As we cannot create Events inside an Ongoing Event, we are limited to creating Talks, and “disguise” them as Events on the customer facing pages. We do this by abusing the Schedule Note and translate the label. The list of “Talks” and other Agenda Items will quickly become very long. To make it easier to structure this list, it would be good if we can group all Talks and other Agenda Items that belong to individual events into folders. When I then create a custom page for an event, I should ideally be able to select the correct folder in the Agenda element. This should then result in showing the list of items in that folder. I could then exclude the above mentioned Schedule Notes outside of this folder, as these should only show on the home page, not on the custom page for a specific event.

Gotcha! Thanks for clarifying. I think in that case, this is probably not something that we would do in the short to medium term as we do have a wider goal to create the ability for hierarchical organisational level events so that you can have a parent org level landing page listing all of the events within it. This is the feature we are planning to focus on in the future to solve this and a few other related issues.

I’ll practice patience then. 😁
