The submission form would benefit from being a bit more flexible with selection options to better capture presenter preferences and venue requirements.
(I am assuming ability to add custom fields and questions to the form is not an option, instead some hopefully simpler requests).
1. Presentation Format Selection
Current: Single-select dropdown (In person, Pre-recorded, Live)
Requested: Convert to multi-select to allow presenters to choose multiple formats
Alternative: Add an "Any" option to the existing single-select
2. Venue/Stage Selection
Requested: Add venue and/or stage preference selection capability
Implementation: Multi-select checkboxes for available venues/stages
Configuration: Admin option to enable/disable this feature
2b Venue/Stage Availability
I think like with the checkbox to include or or a stage or a venue from the top navigation, similarly we will need a toggle to say it is or is not available on the speaker submission page.
3. Free Text/Message field
“any other information you would like to share” - would be a ‘nice to have’
Gives presenters more flexibility to indicate their availability/preferences
Provides organisers with better data for scheduling and logistics
Reduces back-and-forth communication about format/venue and location preferences
Ties in to what is already being done with tight integrations between the form and the back end etc and extends that to include stage and or venue functionality too.
With multiple online and in person events and one single source of truth and event submissions being Heysummit, these would be useful additions indeed.
