Add ability to tag talks with types in addition to categories

I see that talks only have the option to apply categories while speakers can have categories and custom tags applied. I also see that the categories are framed and referred to as topic or area of focus on the Categories overview page and as part of the schedule building process during registration. I would like to be able to tag talks with different types I define (Roundtable, Presentation, Interview, Beginner, Advanced, etc.) and let website visitors filter talks based on type as well as category wherever the talks list is shown on the site.

Great suggestion, thanks for reaching out about it. I'm pleased to say that we've now rolled this out, and you can view the changelog below. https://heysummit.userjot.com/updates/p/custom-tags-for-talk…

Awesome, we’ll start using this right away! One related request — it would be nice if there was a menu to manage the custom tags under Content in the same way Categories can be managed like this.

And would also be nice if there could be a customer facing field that allows them to filter by tag in addition to the one that lets them filter by Category.

Currently, I’m only able to select one tag in the custom tags field. I’d like to be able to set multiple here in the same way I’m able to select multiple in the Categories field.

This one might be a long shot, but, while I’m making requests, it would also be nice if each tag could have a separately defined background and text color for the tag placed on each talk here:

Thanks, Heather. I really appreciate the follow-up notes. The way we've structured tags is different from categories in that they are not intended to be used to the same extent that categories are; for example, you cannot specify descriptions, icons, ordering, etc. Due to this, we don't currently plan to have a dedicated area for it in the dashboard, or the ability to add multiple tags or define colours for them. However, we will continue to listen to feedback from the wider community in case there is deeper demand for something like that. I have made a note to update the schedule page so that you can filter by tag as well, if needed. Thanks again for the feedback.
